We woke to sun! After one last look at the Dordogne valley from the Domme ramparts, we headed out.
More random castles
Arah's tire held all the way down the hill and for the first few miles, but we weren't taking any chances. We took an 8 mile detour to Intersport and stocked up on spare tubes.
Fun France factoid: many shopping centers have these 24 hour laundry kiosks.
This was a beautiful ride, much of which was on a very long, very nice bike path.
It is a rail-to-trail, and passed many reused train stations, including a community center with a cool retro graffiti wall.
Oops! Bike path landslide.
Through an old train tunnel.
Got some sardines to augment picnic today (E not pleased)
After a long, mellow, 15 mile hill up through a national forest, we came to our Hotel Le Belvedere. And then we saw Rocamadour. I will try to control myself with the number of pictures I post, but this was truly an amazing sight. The town not only has an incredible position built into the rock cliff, but it has a beautiful church complex with a black Madonna, and has been the destination for pilgrims for over 1000 years. At the very top, a Chateau towers above it all. Today most of the pilgrims are on a touristic quest. We read that Rocamadour is the second most visited site in France after Paris.
Looking down into Rocamadour, with balloons
Looking up, up, up from main street

The organ looks like a ship's prow
Because the patron saint, Amadour, was guided from the holy land to Aquitane in a boat.
At the end, we took a funicular up to the Chateau level and walked back to our hotel
Where we ate overlooking the town. Back to salad with Rocamadour cheese
And in a switcheroo, duck leg for Arah and pizza for Eric.
