We haven't dropped off the face of the Earth, or given up after a few low energy / low spirit days in the gloom, we've just been without wifi for several days.
After our soggy slog to Les Eyzies we were in no mood to sightsee, but in the morning we got up early and see the sights of the cliff hugging town. Both outside...
...and in. Odd bedside lamp from our odd accomodations
In fact, Eric got out quite early to go stand in line to see the prehistoric caves in town. They only let 80 people a day into one of them, and 40 into the other. Eric was 8th in line, with 7 Americans before him. This is more Americans than we've seen anywhere else on the trip. And they say that the British like to wait in line...
Once again, no pictures inside Font du Gaume or Les Comberelles, so links provided.
While Font du Gaume is more famous, we found it paled in comparison with Pech Merle. Les Comberelles, on the other hand, was amazing! Every surface of the walls and ceiling were covered with realistic scratched outlines of animals: bison, ibex, woolly mammoth, bears, cave lions, etc. Just like in Egypt, trying to picture these outlimes once brilliantly colored was an exercise in imagination and awe.
Eric wouldn't let me see this one...
After a quick picnic, we hopped on our bikes under gloomy skies (again!) and headed to Domme (a mercifully short name!) where we have planned two much needed R&R days and have an AirBnB - La Dommaise, where we whipped up a home-cooked dinner that contained NO DUCK!
