I forgot to mention where we stayed in Nancy. Besides the name and the forth-floor walk-up room, it was nothing like New York.
After the long day we decide to take a break and train it to Metz.
Metz is a pleasant riverfront city with:
A few art nouveau buildings
Squares lined with Renaissance merchants’ homes
And a very nice, very large, very Gothic cathedral.
An the biggest flying buttresses we’ve seen yet. Wasn’t that a Sir Mix-a-Lot song?
An impressive train station built by Kaiser Wilhelm II.
And this wacky tower.
Dinner at Asian noodle place. Saw this street art walking home.
