End of the Roman road, and into Tour territory.
Before the day’s ride, a few scary things found in our hotel rooms…
Arah’s room of many phobias…
On the way out of Orange we pass a mothballed airplane museum
First view of Vaison la Romain
Roman bridge into town is still in use.
Sure sign of a tourist town in France - the ubiquitous Petit Touriste Train. And indeed, Vaison le Romain is busy with Germans, Swiss and Dutch.
The last of our Roman ruins for a while, Vaison has a sprawling, multi site remains of a town
Strip mall
Before dinner we hike up to the older part of town that was abandoned in the 1600s, along with its chateau
The “new” part of town
Les McMansions
And a few shots of the hill town - although at this point I could be recycling hill town photos and you’d never know!
Personal pont
They had historic photos around town - love this 50s doll bowling with the old gents!
Touristy town, so I play it safe with a crepe.
But somehow Eric finds… you guessed it, duck breast mit frites
And beers - named after the regional mascot.
