A “mountain sprint” with a crazy coincidence at the end.
Unfortunately, the day starts with our least favorite aspect of the trip… I think that’s 3 for E, 4 for me?
A GPS snafu results in us taking and accidental big climb, so here it is for documentation.
Vence in the distance, up on a hill (as usual) and in the clouds as usual)
First we head off to the Matisse chapel, a few minutes from town.
We head downstairs, open the door and see…
Mark Friedrichs and Judy! The arm of BTO is truly long…
Walking back to town we find the mega pastry shop…. Mmm
And into Vence’s old medieval section
Vence is the source of the Foux river - famed for its mineral water. There are about 80 taps around the town and people line up to fill bottles
Foux water stats - I drink about a gallon over the next 30 mins, hoping it will bring me some hill climbing mojo.
Alleys - you know the drill
Old Roman tombstones used to build the Cathedral
Saturday night out - we decide to go big with our first real French dinner - and big it is… Salads to start - this “Cesar” for E has chicken, eggs, toast points.
And a warm goat cheese salad for A
Duck breast, gnocchi and braised veg food E
And penne with salmon for A
