Today we decide to take this little train “Les Pignes” up into a river valley where it connects many small hill towns. Because we haven’t seen enough small medieval hill towns!
Breakfast of champions. We also have some pain au chocolate and croissants of course.
Whoops. Little problem with the train, so we board a bus to continue the journey
A view up the valley
We arrive at Entreveux - an odd name for a fortified town
And decide we need to hike to the citadel – up there
Approach to the old town - over the river
Narrow alleys, of course
Fake olde windows
Couldn’t find the farrier though
Heading up, we see this knife-edge rock
And wild peas
WWI officers’ prison cells
A friendly use of the arrow slots
Up, up, up. Is there no liability in France?
A few views from the tippy top
Back over the town
Two pontes - old…
And new
Next stop: Puget-Theniers for our first real French meal for lunch by the river
Salmon and haricots verte for me
And pesto for E
And my first mousse au chocolate - it wasn’t very good, as you can see
And a very quick walk through the … Medieval town
Town symbol - the cicada
P-T had a thriving Jewish community, which is now down to a plaque.
Back to Nice for the evening. Hipsters have found the Cote d'Azur apparently
Nice does not want for megayachts either
This one comes with two James Bond aqua-auto-swimmers
Dinner is hotel picnic. No pix.
