In which a 10km flat ride turns into a 35km circuit “for fun.”
We head to our agriturismo, just 6mi down the road, planing to take it easy, but the proprietress turns out to be an avid cyclist and convinces us to do a little 25km, 1000’ climb loop.
Although I was totally cheated out of my day of leisure, I will admit that this might be the most beautiful ride ever, and that climbing is easier without paniers!
A storm in the night cleared the air and this is what showed up outside our window…
First stop Barolo for lunch (no pix, but great lasagna for A and a local Piedmontese pasta - tajarin - for E)
Barolo castle
Memories of the hill towns
Serralunga
Small town traffic jam
Some kind of festival (not medieval clearly) in Monforte D'alba
And now a series of gratuitous Alps shots from the ride…
And back to our lovely agriturismo to relax (finally!) and have a hotel picnic.
